THE “CAVA DE PARAJE CALIFICADO” IS BORN
The DO Cava presented Worldwide the Cava de Paraje Calificado, a new Premium category that included those made from grapes from an area considered exceptional because of its climatological or geological conditions.
The requisites to be admitted to this new category are:
- Qualified small area
- Yield per hectare: max. 8.000kg.
- Manual harvest
- Vines over 10 years old
- Vinified on the State
- Maximum yield of must per hectare: 48 hectoliters
- Qualification of the base wine
- Minimum ageing period of fermentation in bottle: 36 months
- Vintage Cava
- Integral traceability from vine to commercialization.

THE TWO NEW CAVAS TORELLÓ FROM “PARAJE CALIFICADO”.
Torelló 225 & Gran Torelló “Paraje Calificado Vinyes de Can Martí” are the two Torelló Cavas admitted in the new super Premium Category. This location situated in the interior of our estate has an extension of 11 hectare of vineyards with Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada vines aged between 11 and 28 years.
The soils of the setting have been formed from sediments from the Garraf massis desposited thousands of years ago and the accumulations of calcium carbonate stand out.
The climatology is characterized as typically Mediterranean, temperature, usual for the pre-coastal and coastal zones of the south of Catalonia.
The Cava Torelló 225, available in USA has been minimum aged 40 months with subtle wooden notes because of the aging in barrels before bottling.
Gran Torelló has a minimum aging of 70 months made with the indigenous grape varieties such Torelló 225.
Both Torelló Paraje Calificado Cavas are Brut Nature, with no sugar added being the perfect Cava to match with many diverse types of food.
Each bottle has a golden stamp from the Cava Regulatory Council which certifies that have fulfilled with the strict regulation.
